A remaster of Zombieland: Headshot Fever for the PSVR2 with new game modes and a graphical overhaul.
My Work
- Tutorial Overhaul: Redesigned the tutorial level to introduce new mechanics and overhaul the teaching of existing mechanics with the benefit of the feedback of a full release.
- Scriptwriting and Recapturing the Character: Worked alongside other writers to establish and reinforce the strong characterisation of the core Zombieland cast throughout the game with new dialogue.
Gameplay
While the core game-loop of Zombieland: Headshot Fever, the game structure and player progression has been overhauled.
Instead of a simple linear level progression, players are given tasks to complete across the content they’ve already unlocked. An additional Arcade game mode adds even more experiences to the game, with a rogue-like mode with randomised perks, weapons, and level progression.
This version of the game also featured new perks and weapons.
Scriptwriting & Tutorial Design
With the opportunity to iterate on the existing onboarding with all the data and feedback from the original version of the game, the decision was made to overhaul the game’s onboarding experience. Alongside a rework of the teaching moments themselves, this required a whole new script.
Character roles were shifted, with Tallahassee taking over the role of onboarding the player to the game. On the original release, I had been responsible for writing for Columbus, the awkward nerd of the group, so a lot of time went into finding Tallahassee’s grizzled, laid-back confidence.
